What Is Polyurethane Slab Jacking?
High Density Polyurethane Foam Injection is used for concrete lifting, concrete stabilization and void filling under concrete. Lifting concrete with foam offers the same results as traditional concrete mudjacking for raising, stabilization, and void filling, but with new and improved characteristics.
Cost-effective compared to replacing concrete, this high density polyurethane
foam has a quick cure time, is hydrophobic, acts as a moisture barrier, is lightweight and uses only 5/8” injection holes.
This means you can use your concrete driveway or concrete sidewalk within 60 minutes after we’re done (often sooner). That water won’t wash away or weaken the foam (extremely important if water issues caused your initial concrete problem). That the lightweight product won’t compound settling issues due to weight and finally the small holes provide a much cleaner look to your now level concrete!
Why Would I Need Slab Jacking? Or Concrete Lifting?
When your concrete patio, sidewalk or driveway shifts or sinks, you’ll have a few issues to deal with. First, depending on how much it shifts, there is likely a tripping hazard. Even a small shift can create an environment where children, guests or even delivery people could trip on your concrete just walking up to your home. This leaves you open to lawsuits, tears or both!
Second, depending on why the concrete driveway or concrete sidewalk shifted, there is a potential for cracked concrete due to the uneven sub surface. This could lead to an expensive and tough job of breaking up the current slab and replacing your concrete which could take weeks and cause more headaches.
Third, if the slope of the concrete shifts, it changes the drainage direction and you could end up with water leaking through your foundation into your home.
By filling the void under a sinking concrete section with polyurethane we achieve three goals. First, by pushing the polyurethane foam under the portion of sunken concrete we level the surface to reduce those dangerous tripping hazards, making your property safer and more attractive.
Second, we stabilize the concrete by filling uneven areas underneath. This helps prevent the concrete from cracking or breaking.
Third, we ensure water drains away from your concrete foundation to prevent flooding in your home.
Why Use Polyurethane To Lift Concrete Versus Mud?
Originally, a mud-type mixture was used to fill gaps underneath uneven concrete to help raise the concrete slabs and level them. Previously, concrete mudjacking was the easiest and cheapest method to level concrete, but technology has changed.
Now, with the advancements in pumping technology and production, polyurethane foam has over taken mud as the preferred method of leveling uneven concrete. This process to level concrete is more exact and less messy and much faster.
Poly requires the use of fewer and smaller bore holes in the concrete section than mudjacking uses so the end result has fewer and less noticeable patches. Polyurethane foam is also substantially lighter than the mud used in mudjacking, therefore we are not adding as much weight under your concrete slab reducing future concrete sinkage.
Poly foam hardens almost immediately and the concrete sidewalk or driveway can typically be back and ready for use within as little as 15 minutes.
